When to use GEODE RESIN?

The GEODE RESIN is a thick liquid resin, which is optimal for OCEAN ART, GEODE ART, ABSTRACT ART or an ultra-high gloss sealing of artwork. The viscosity is more than excellent as effects stay where you poured them ( waves, glitter lines, cells, etc).
The mix ratio is 1:1 by volume, 45 minutes processing time and after 24 hours it is cured. It is basically a rather "soft" resin, which is scratch sensitive and not heat resistant insofar as you want to pour this resin into coaster silicone molds, for example. The GEODE RESIN is insensitive to temperature fluctuations during the drying process. It has passed the TÜV SÜD product test and is now certified according to DIN EN71-3 + A1:2021, i.e. in the cured state, when used correctly and clearly, it is saliva safe - people, children and animals can safely bite or lick the resin.

No VOCs (at normal room temperature).

When to use CRYSTAL RESIN?

The CRYSTAL RESIN is a thin to medium viscosity resin, which is ideally suited for smaller casting works of art, such as coasters, jewelry bowls, crystals. The viscosity does not cause many bubbles and is rather low in bubbles - especially when stirred carefully. Also, if you let it stand for a short time after stirring, the air bubbles will collect on the surface and you can easily remove them.

Mixing ratio is 2:1 by volume, 15 minutes processing time and after 12 hours it is cured.
The heat resistance is 80-85° C after complete curing.
The CRYSTAL RESIN is not a resin that can be used for casting "river table".

What protective equipment do I have to wear when working with resin?

Always wear nitrile gloves and avoid any direct contact with the skin. So please wear gloves immediately when opening the bottles and when mixing already.

We recommend to make / pour your artwork in very well ventilated premises. Our resin is harmless up to a certain point of heating, as far as emitting harmful vapors is concerned (when just / clear), but it is advisable especially with some color additives, whose content we often do not know, to wear a respirator mask with chemical filter.

If the resin needs to be reworked when cured (i.e. sanding), we recommend safety glasses and dust mask.

DO NOT eat, drink or smoke while working.

Please do not work near children or pets and make sure that they do not come into contact with the materials. Therefore, always store the resin in a safe place.

Does RESIN get yellow?

All our epoxy resins have the best recipe for optimal UV protection: HALS additives and UV absorbers. However, the resin can still yellow - it's just a question of how much and when. This can also be influenced by improper processing, for example, excessive heating can damage the molecular structure and the yellowing process starts earlier or more extremely. Works cast too high, in which the exothermic reaction of both components cannot soften sufficiently after mixing, also tend to yellow more. Therefore, please always pay attention to the casting height or volume.
Finished resin artworks should not be directly exposed to UV radiation (sun).

Can I drill holes in the cured RESIN?

YES, the resin can be reworked after complete curing and holes can be drilled.

What is "tempering"?

Tempering is when you expose an object to constant heat over a period of time. In the case of resin art, such as coasters, one would place the fully cured objects under a heat lamp at 40-50°C for 4-5 hours (Please do not use more then this temperature!). This will cause the resin to post-cure again, making the coasters slightly more scratch resistant and heat resistant.

How to sand RESIN?

Resin can be reworked after complete curing. Sanding the resin is a lengthy process if you want to sand it to a high gloss. Here, please work up from a very coarse sandpaper (90) to an ultra-fine sandpaper (3000). It can then be polished to a high gloss with a common polish and a microfiber cloth. If the sandpaper is slightly moistened, it will not be so dusty, but we still advise wearing protective goggles and a dust mask.

What is the shelf life of the RESIN (liquid in the bottles)?

As a rule, the resin has a shelf life of 1 year if stored correctly (more information on this on the SDS). However, already opened bottles should be used up quickly to avoid constant contact with the air (humidity).

How to storage RESIN?

It is best to store the resin in a dry, cool and dark place (i.e. without direct UV radiation). Bottles that are exposed to high temperatures will yellow more quickly. Always close containers immediately, because the oxidation process also leads to premature yellowing of the resin.

Which room temperature is best to work with RESIN?

The best temperature for optimum processing is 22 degrees Celsius. At higher temperatures, the resin tends to become more fluid, but the processing time is reduced. At lower temperatures, the resin is more viscous and the processing time is extended.

Why do I have air bubbles in my RESIN and how can I remove them?

Air bubbles are normal! The thicker the resin, the more air bubbles. The thinner the resin, the fewer air bubbles. Simply use a Bunsen burner or hot air gun to remove the bubbles on the surface. Alternatively, you can put the resin in a warm water bath beforehand (please do not put water in the bottles) to warm it up so that it becomes more liquid. You can also let CRYSTAL RESIN stand for 5 minutes and you will see that air bubbles come to the surface. Please note that the processing time will be shortened if you do not process it immediately.

How do I remove spilled RESIN / HARDENER?

Here we distinguish between the removal of resin and hardener. The resin part is best removed with solvents such as isopropanol, but please use a baby wipe / wet wipes for your skin (if resin is on dei skin) to remove, because that does not attack the skin. The component hardener can clean with simple household vinegar.
Remove already mixed resin immediately (babywipe), because cured resin is not so easy to remove almost on all surfaces.

How do I dispose of RESIN correctly?

Cured resin: in the yellow garbage can or in the yellow bag.
The situation is different for the individual resin and hardener components, which are classified as hazardous waste and must be disposed of accordingly. Please ask your municipality for the appropriate disposal options.

The RESIN is still not cured and pliable after unmolding. Why?

Unmolding too early may be the case here. In addition, a very low room temperature may also be responsible. In these cases, please place the works on a flat surface and allow them to harden in peace.
However, if you have not mixed resin and hardener correctly or used the wrong mixing ratio here, the works are unfortunately also bendable. If possible, simply apply another layer of resin.

What should I do if I have sharp edges with RESIN?

This can happen if resin has a possibility to "move up" on edges, e.g. when casting in silicone molds and you do not fill completely up to the edge. In this case, it is best to use a de-scratcher and remove the sharp edges. Or pour another clear layer into the silicone mold and fill it up.

Why does RESIN-Cellulite form? Orange skin effect? Dimples?

This type of unsightly surface is unfortunately often the case with resin, which is very sensitive to temperature during curing. Please ensure a constant room temperature. GEODE RESIN is rather insensitive to this, but it can still happen that an orange peel effect occurs. What are the reasons for this? A non-horizontal canvas or a too thinly applied resin layer can lead to this.

Sometimes, however, it happens in isolated places that dents / holes form. This can happen if you have used a Bunsen burner that loses liquid gas and it drips onto the resin surface. Or the substrate was not properly clean and there were still oil or grease stains on it (e.g. used tray).

How does excessive humidity affect the RESIN surface?

An almost net-like surface is created due to excessive humidity. Here, the resin reacts with the moisture in the air. Please make sure that the humidity is always below 40%. Better still 35%. A room dehumidifier can help here well.

Why do I have streaks on my RESIN surface?

There are actually several reasons for this: not well mixed resin, wrong mixing ratio or if you have previously cleaned the silicone mold with a baby wipe and there are still residues left in the silicone mold. Likewise, glass blocks that you place in a mold, e.g. at the edge, can also lead to "streaks", since minimal dust is transported from the resin to the surface.

How long do I have to stir RESIN and HARDENER?

I would recommend paying less attention to how long you stir. Much more important here is a close eye, because at first both components look milky when you put them in the measuring cup and start stirring. After some time of steady and calm stirring, it will become clear. There should be no more typical streaks (look like silk threads in the mixture). At most, this is about 3 min for the stirring process, however, you can stir for 3 min in such a way that it is still not properly blended, so please rely more on your eye than your timer.

COLORS FAQs

When to use LIQU-MENTS?

The COLORBERRY LIQU-MENTS are water-based, highly pigmented and liquid colors which are excellently suited for coloring JESMONITE. Resin can also be dyed with them, but care must be taken with the dosage due to the water base of the colors (water is not compatible with resin). One drop leads to lighter color in the JESMONITE and to transparent color in the resin. The more drops, the darker the JESMONITE or more opaque the color in the resin.
The LIQU-MENTS should be shaken before each use and the cap should be closed again to prevent the colors from drying out.
LIQU-MENTS can be combined with each other and also mixed with the rest of the COLORBERRY Collection.
LIQU-MENTS are opaque, non-shimmering colors.
Casting cement, plaster and other pouring media can also be colored with LIQU-MENTS.
The light fastness is excellent.
In addition, our LIQU-MENTS are vegan and safe to use.
If you add just a few drops to the JESMONITE and mix it just a little, you will get a great marble effect, which can then be poured into the silicone mold like this.

When to use dry powders, like CARAT COLLECTION, OMG-Sets or WHITE AURA BOX?

Our dry pigments give the resin a breathtaking shimmer. Especially in the light it sparkles and glimmers in a very elegant way. You can also mix them with opaque colors to then get a unique pearl effect. Our COLORBERRY dry pigments have the maximum pigment strength and are therefore very productive.
All dry pigments can be combined with each other and can also be mixed with the complete COLORBERRY Collection to get great shades or your own color creations.
All our dry pigments are vegan, kosher and halal and are produced without animal testing.
The pigments do not contain any ingredients that are classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic to reproduction according to the CLP regulation.
You can also mix the colors with glass stones and resin to get a shimmering druzy effect.

Dry pigments can be added to JESMONITE, but JESMONITE distorts the color and color intensity a bit, so we recommend you to do small tests before.

You can also paint our dry pigments into a silicone mold or onto hardened resin beforehand and then pour on the resin.

Which colors are in the WHITE AURA BOX?

In the WHITe AURA BOX are mainly colors that appear white at first glance, but you can quickly notice the crucial difference of each color by holding them against the light. Some have a blue shimmer, others are more purple or cream.

Which GOLD is the best?

For the best "GOLD" effects, COLORBERRY has two top products: CARAT GOLD and BRONZE BOX. These are the finest pigments that float on top of the surface. Either you stir them into the resin ( please use a little more, otherwise you will have a brownish effect), or you just put the powder dry on the surface. Also, you can brush it dry into a silicone from or mix it with a lacquer-like liquid to paint golden lines with it on the cured resin.
However, if you pour this type of dry powder into silicone molds (mixed with resin), be aware that the gold, for example, will always pop to the surface and you will not be able to turn the coaster/coaster over for a nice, visible gold effect.
If there is enough pigment in the resin, the metallic color will float to the top all by itself or you can heat it a little with a hot air gun to speed up the process.

What is JESMONITE?

JESMONITE is an eco-friendly, water-based, "non toxic" pouring medium, which consists of a powder and a liquid. You can use it to create decorative and functconal objects, such as coasters, vase bowls, plates, planters and even tabletops for side tables. The material is plaster-like and you can pour it into almost any silicone mold, plus the special viscosity and material property of JESMONITE allows you to create unique color marble effects that would not be possible as beautifully with another plaster-like comparative product. In addition, JESMONITE has the great advantage that incorporated impact metal does not oxidize as with comparabren products.
The mixing ratio is 2.5 parts powder to one part liquid. It is measured by weight. The mixture is mixed well until no more lumps are visible. JESMONITE always has a natural, creamy shade and can be used pure or dyed.

How to work with JESMONITE?

The processing time is 10-15 minutes and after 20 minutes you can already unmold your creations. However, it also depends a little on the pouring height. The higher, the longer it takes to cure. We recommend that you leave your creation on the mold at an angle for another 24 hours after unmolding, as the JESMONITE still "sweats" afterwards. Since JESMONITE is a natural product, you don't need a special room for it. You can pour it virtually anywhere. Due to the exothermic reaction, it is quite normal that your mold feels warm after 20 minutes.

How to color JESMONITE best?

Perfect for this are our LIQU-MENTS, these color your JESMONITE evenly and opaque. The JESMONITE can also be dyed with the dry powders from the Carat Collection, but please note that the color differs slightly, since the JESMONITE itself is already dyed. Glitter, LUXURY CRACKS and sand can be incorporated.

Can children work with JESMONITE?

Since JESMONITE is eco friendly and "non toxic", almost anyone can work with it. It is also a great way to get started if you don't yet dare to work with resin. Even children and teenagers can try out JESMONITE. JESMONITE can also be painted afterwards and thus beautiful craft objects can be created.

Do u need a respirator by working with JESMONITE?

JESMONITE is eco friendly and "non toxic" so no mask or gloves are required. Unless you are creating a piece of art that is made of resin and JESMONITE, then we ask you in the resin part to protect yourself according to the "resin standards".

Can I combine RESIN & JESMONITE?

YES! A mix of resin and JESMONITE is beautiful. However, it is important to know that the resin must not be completely hardened, otherwise it will not bond with the JESMONITE. The resin must have a sticky consistency.

How to seal JESMONITE?

To protect your JESMONITE artwork, you can seal it after it has cured. You can use any commercially available sealer, or even beeswax. If you use a food-safe sealer, you can even serve food on JESMONITE!

Can I drill holes in JESMONITE?

Yes, when it has cured, you can also drill holes in JESMONITE.

Is JESMONITE fragile?

JESMONITE can break. Shortly after unmolding, it can still be broken well and deliberately to conjure up other creations. Terrazzo, for example. The longer the curing process has taken place, the more difficult it is to break JESMONITE. However, it can also break if you drop your finished creation (depending on the pouring height and the object itself).

How to sand JESMONITE?

JESMONITE is best sanded wet. You wet the sandpaper or your JESMONITE artwork and then sand it. After sanding, you can then see the effects of the terrazzo or the shellys well.

How high can I cast JESMONITE?

Unlike resin, JESMONITE does not have a specified pouring height. Please note, however, that JESMONITE heats up during curing due to the exothermic reaction. In addition, curing may take longer the more JESMONITE is poured.

How to get rid of air bubbles in JESMONITE?

Air bubbles reach the surface due to vibration after pouring (for example, massage stick on table surface).

It depends where u are located. In some countries u need to pay tax by importing goods from abroad. But that's why u pay net amounts in the online shop (so without tax).

Why is the price different after check out?

This also depends where u are located. we are part of the OOS (in Europe) and we need to charge the tax of your country u want us to ship the goods. The prices in the online shop are based on German Tax 19%, so if u have in your country f.e. 21 % the price is 2% higher then mentioned in the online shop.

Business orders with VAT-ID possible?
